Harish Rao mocks at shutdown

Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Monday said the bandh called by Opposition parties against Mallannasagar project did not evoke any response as people thwarted opposition’s conspiracy to stall the project.

Addressing the press here on Monday, the Minister said intelligence inputs confirmed that some anti-social elements outside the district entered into the scene to create law and order problem. However, alert police immediately swung into action and prevented any untoward incident. All those responsible would be brought to book and stern action would be taken against them, the Minister said.

Reiterating that TRS government would not be cowed down by threats, the Minister held TDP and CPM responsible for the violent incidents witnessed during the agitation. In a scathing attack on the opposition, Harish said the opposition parties fear of losing their political existence once all the irrigation projects are completed.

Harish once gain reiterated that farmers would be compensated under Land Acquisition Act- 2013 or under Government Order 123, issued by the state government. Farmers have been given the freedom to avail any one of the two schemes, he said.
