The Minister for Power and SC Development G Jagadish Reddy informed that the State government has allocated Rs 26,000 crores for development of the district during its 26-months rule.
Nalgonda: The Minister for Power and SC Development G Jagadish Reddy informed that the State government has allocated Rs 26,000 crores for development of the district during its 26-months rule.
The Minister hoisted the national flag at police parade grounds in Nalgonda on Monday on the occasion of 70th Independence Day celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, Jagadish Reddy reminded that the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, is giving top priority for the all-round development of the district and later listed out the industrial, irrigation and tourism projects taken up by the government in the district.
The welfare schemes and development programmes have been benefitting lakhs of poor people in the district. He pointed out that Rs1,465 crores have been released in three phases for waiving off crop loans of 4.96 lakh farmers.
Six months interest free loans of Rs 3.65 crores have been sanctioned to 294 farmers under ‘Rythu Bhandu’ scheme for 2016-17.
About 2,032 tanks were taken up for restoration with Rs 755 crores under phase-I and Phase–II of Mission Kakatiya and 740 tanks were fully restored in the district.
Stating that August 15 was the day on which India was liberated from 200 British rule, felt that Independence Day celebrations were the right occasion to remember the freedom fighters, who sacrificed a lot for the country.
Referring to Mission Bhagiratha programme, Jagadish Reddy said pipes were purchased for 2,627 kilometers with the budget of Rs 3,880 and pipes for a stretch of 1,364 kilometers were laid.
Stating that higher education has become inaccessible to SCs and STs in the district, he said that 16 SC residential schools, three residential colleges for women, six tribal residential schools and five minority residential schools have been launched in the district to address the problem.
Reminding that the State government has taken up Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme to liberate the people of district from clutches of fluoride problem, the Minister stated that Rs 5,190 crores have been sanctioned for construction of five reservoirs under the project and Rs 108 crores of compensation was already extended to the oustees to acquire 9,719 acres of land for the project.
The Minister earlier distributed cheques to Self Help Groups and try-cycles to handicapped on the occasion. He felicitated freedom fighters at a programme held in the parade ground.
District Collector P Satyanarayana Reddy, SP Prakash Reddy, MP Gutha Sukender Reddy, MLA Gadari Kishore, Joint Collector Dr N Satyanaryana, Nalgonda Municipal Chairperson Lakshmi Srinivas and others participated in the programme.
