Heavy rain is continuously pouring down in Hyderabad for the past few days resulting in low-lying areas being submerged. Thunder and lightening struck on Thursday afternoon worsening the situation as the city is struggling to recover from last week's rainfall.

Several colonies in Nizampet are still reeling under water and with the lake being breached, the apartments and houses in the area are inundated with rain water. While the Fire department workers have been pumping out water from cellars and roads, the situation worsened with the fresh flow of today's heavy rain and the roads have once again been waterlogged.

Alwal area is facing an impending crisis as the roads and houses are flooded with rain water. A high alert has been sounded in various parts of the city including Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Nampally, Dilsukhnagar, Secunderabad, Secretariat, Himmayatnagar, ECIL and Tarnaka areas. The residents of the waterlogged areas are agitated over the situation and are demanding an immediate solution.

Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao and GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy are conducting inspections in several areas and have directed the officials to take up relief measures.
