NGRI scientist appointed as NCESS Director
Dr N Purnachandra Rao, Chief Scientist at CSIR-NGRI, has been appointed as the Director of National Centre for Earth Science Studies (NCESS), Thiruvananthapuram. NCESS is a premier Institute of Earth Science research under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India.
Hyderabad: Dr N Purnachandra Rao, Chief Scientist at CSIR-NGRI, has been appointed as the Director of National Centre for Earth Science Studies (NCESS), Thiruvananthapuram. NCESS is a premier Institute of Earth Science research under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India.
Rao has a Ph.D. degree in Geophysics from the Osmania University, and a D.Sc. Degree from the University of Tokyo, Japan, and had a distinguished research career of about three decades as a scientist and a seismologist at NGRI. Recently he also received the prestigious National Geoscience award for the year 2016 from the President of India in New Delhi.
