Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao reiterated that even though some vested interests have been trying to stop the projects, the irrigation projects taken up by the State government would not be stopped. He said the government is determined to complete Mallanna Sagar Project by next year.

Interacting with farmers from Narsapur Assembly constituency who called on him at Pragathi Bhavan, the Chief Minister said that the new initiative of giving Rs 4,000 per acre per crop would enable the farmers to purchase seed, fertiliser and pesticides. If this is continued for 5 to 6 years and if monsoon cooperates, farmers will be immensely benefitted, he said.

KCR instructed Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao to take action on constructing a check dam on Dontivagu between
Brahmanapally and Gundlapally and release funds for the same. “Rains are expected to come in a few days. Once the rains are stopped, I will come with the officials to your constituency.

I know the problems of farmers in the villages. We are giving sheep to Yadavs and it will become Rs 20,000 crore worth wealth in three years. Sheep will get national and international market.’’ ``Fisheries will also become a profit making business and we are encouraging it,’’ he said and assured to give adequate funds to Narsapur and Gajwel. Minister Harish Rao and MLA Madan Reddy were present at the meeting.
