Hyderabad: Banjara Hills police on Wednesday filed a petition seeking five day police custody of V Rajeev Kumar and B Sravan Kumar, who were sent to prison holding them responsible for the suicide of makeup artist A Vijayalakshmi aka Sirisha.

It may be recalled Sirisha was found hanging in the wee hours of June 13 in a room at the RJ Photography (photo studio) run by Rajeev in Banjara Hills. A day later, Kukunoorpally sub-inspector, P Prabhakar Reddy shot himself dead.

Investigations revealed that Sirisha, Rajeev and Sravan had gone to Kukunoorpally for counsel to find a solution for the triangular love story of Rajeev with Sirisha and Tejaswini. But Prabhakar Reddy allegedly tried to assault Sirisha sexually.

Police claimed that Sirisha hanged herself after returning from Kukunoorpally. Worried over being named as accused, Kukunoorpally SI too committed suicide. Subsequently, police arrested Rajeev and Sravan accusing them as responsible for Sirisha’s death.

During the probe, police had sent vaginal swabs and other material for forensic analysis to find out whether Sirisha was sexually assaulted. Even as the FSL report is awaited, some audio tapes containing the conversation between Sirisha and some friends of Rajeev emerged which show that she wanted Tejaswini be removed from the life of Rajeev.

While these audios show Sirisha wanted Rajeev to forget Tejaswini, police say Rajeev wanted both the women to live with him. If it was not possible, he wanted to distance himself from Sirisha. It was with this plan, Rajeev and Sravan took her to Kukunoorpally.

Since new information is emerging, police want to question the accused thoroughly whether there was any foul play in Sirisha’s death. The custody petition filed by Banjara Hills police is likely to come up for hearing on Friday, sources said.
