The State government has sanctioned Rs 10 crore for Bonalu festival in the City. This was announced by Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy at a meeting held here on Friday. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin.
Hyderabad: The State government has sanctioned Rs 10 crore for Bonalu festival in the City. This was announced by Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy at a meeting held here on Friday. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan and Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin.
Narasimha Reddy, who is also convener for Bonalu festival, said funds would be given to celebrate Bonalu festival in 2,179 temples in the City. He asked the corporators to send proposals for the funds. Last year, the State government had allotted Rs 4 crore for the purpose.
But Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who is keen on preserving Telangana culture and traditions, has agreed to increase funds for the festival this year. Mohammad Ali and Talasani Srinivas Yadav also spoke on the occasion. Mayor Bonthu Rammohan said all arrangements have been made for the convenience of devotees to have hassle-free darshan of the deities during the Bonalu festival at all major temples.
