Hyderabad: With the High Court at Hyderabad expressing its disinclination to admit the writ petition moved by YSRCP President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy seeking a joint trial of the three charge-sheets filed by the CBI in the special court, the counsel withdrew the petition.

Jaganmohan Reddy moved the High Court after his petition before the CBI special court for clubbing all the three charge-sheets filed relating to the investments in his companies and conducting a joint hearing was dismissed by the court.
The petition came up for hearing before Justice B Shiva Shankar Rao on Thursday.

The Special Public Prosecutor for CBI K Surender Rao objecting to the petition, arguing that the petitions filed seeking a joint trial were only intended to delay the ongoing trial in the special court. He also informed the court that since each crime was different from the other, different charge-sheets had to be filed.

He said there is no provision in the Criminal Procedure Code for a joint trial. The judge agreed with the submissions of the CBI Special Public Prosecutor and remarked that a joint trial cannot be sought. Sensing that the petition may be dismissed, the counsel for Jaganmohan Reddy sought the permission of the court to withdraw the petition, which was granted by the judge.
