Hyderabad: A three-day special session of the Telangana Assembly is likely to be held in December first week. The State government has reportedly decided not to prorogue the session which has been adjourned sine die on Friday to facilitate the conduct of the special session in the last month of this year.
Interestingly, Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary adjourned the House sine die abruptly without holding BAC (Business Advisory Committee) meeting as decided in the earlier BAC meet conducted on November 7. According to Assembly sources, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is planning to hold the session to introduce the proposed new Panchayat Raj Act and take up a debate on the implementation of SC and ST sub-plan. The Chief Minister already announced the introduction of new Panchayat Raj Act in the Assembly at the earliest.
The government was keen to take up a detailed discussion on the SC, ST sub-plan in the Assembly for a whole day, Government Chief Whip Koppula Eshwar said, adding that the utilisation of sub-plan funds, distribution of three acres of land to the Dalits, establishment of new residential educational institutions for SC and ST communities and overseas academic opportunities provided to these communities would figure in the debate.
The proposal to introduce Private University bill was also under consideration, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister K Srihari said, and added that however, the sub-committee constituted to prepare the Bill was yet to finalise the modalities.
