Ravulapalem(East Godavari): Some time ago, when an egg was sold for Rs 7 and above its normal price of Rs 4, the consumers had sun stroke. But, the eggs produced by a hatchery here sell at Rs 22.50 each! Incredible, but true!! Chicken of hens laying ayur eggs is sold at Rs 480 a kg, compared to Rs 200 of normal chicken; the price of kilo mutton.

Moreover, the people have craze for having it on their plate because of nutritional value and medicinal properties of the egg, which is hatched by hens fed on nutritional ayurvedic food.

The hatchery expanded its product to all towns and cities in Telugu states and also to Bengaluru. Even at exorbitant price, the eggs are being sold like the proverbial hotcakes. In sharp contrast to the normal eggs which are white in colour, the egg produced by Soubhagya hatcheries is pink coloured.

In poultry farms, the birds are injected steroids, hormones and anti-biotics. The owners keep costs low with the profit motive. Their feed mostly consists of non-vegetarian food besides maize and soya. But the Soubhagya hatcheries poultry birds are fed with nutrition-rich ayurvedic food. Even if an egg were to be sold at Rs 4 each the poultry owners become rich. If it were to be sold at Rs 22.50 a piece, how the poultry owner would become rich is unimaginable.

Hens laying the ayur egg are fed with garlic, turmeric and a mixture comprising 40 ayurvedic herbs. Owner of Soubhagya group Chandra Reddy conducted intensive research for about six years to produce ayur egg in his farm.

He along with his sons closely monitor the market and prepare a plan to sell the eggs. The eggs are supplied to wholesale markets. As the quality of ayur egg compared to normal eggs is high, its shelf life is more. His sons take care of the business in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The workers at the poultry farm observe complete hygiene and work systematically.

The feed is supplied through machines and hens are provided mineral water to drink. While some of the birds are in the poultry shed, some others would be out in the open.
