Jagtial: District Collector Dr A Sharat directed the officials concerned to get ready for the forthcoming gram panchayat elections during a mandal-wise video conference held from revenue divisional office here on Thursday. He reviewed the arrangement for the forthcoming elections.

He told the officials to prepare village and ward-wise voter list with the help of earlier lists prepared for the Assembly elections, from RO and Tahsildars.

They were told to ensure that all the eligible candidates will be enrolled in the list and to check the pending voter registration applications till 01-01-2018 and those, who didn’t apply for voter card and to make a list of them and register their names in the voter list. He further told them to prepare a list of all those, who completed 18 years on 01-01-2019.

The Collector directed MPDO, EOPRD, Tahsildar, village special officer and village secretaries to take steps for setting up polling stations. ROs were told to conduct meetings with political parties.

Stating that elections will be held in three phases and about 3,300 polling staff is required for each phase, Sharath asked the officials to submit the details of permanent and temporary employees in each mandal.

The State government will send the details of SC, ST and BC reservations to each district; Collector will prepare the reservations of sarpanches in the district; and RDO or Sub-Collector will prepare the list at division-level, he explained. MPDOs will prepare ward reservations.

Later Collector Sharath enquired about the distribution of Bathukamma sarees. He directed the officials to complete the distribution at the earliest. O the two types of Bathukamma sarees, 9 metre length sarees should be distributed to elders and those who wear the saree in a traditional way and 6.3 metre length saree to be given to others, he directed.

The Collector told the officials to prepare lists of all those aged between 57 to 64 years in the voter list and eligible for Asara pension and to send this list to PD DRDO. The officials were warned to prepare the list transparently.
