roadVisakhapatnam: Three employees of Heritage Foods died when leaked ammonium gas caught fire in Bayyavaram village while five Visakha steel plant employees sustained injuries in a blast at Furnace-3 of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in the district on Sunday. Three persons working at the laying of a new pipeline at Heritage Dairy located in Bayyavaram village near the National Highway in Kasimkota mandal died on the spot when the ammonium gas, leaked from the new pipeline laid at the refrigeration block, caught fire on Sunday. The mishap occurred when the workers were testing the pipeline. The dead were Sudhakar, 27, Manoj, 28, both belong to Hyderabad, Dharmaveer, 45, belonged to Bihar. Meanwhile, the dairy management has announced a sum of Rs 10 lakh to the kin of each deceased, employment to one of the family members and free education to children. At Visakha steel plant, the blast occurred when water mixed up with liquid steel. The plant management ordered an inquiry into the blast.
