Nurses perform delivery, newborn dies in Yellareddy
Responding to the State government’s campaign on institutional deliveries, a pregnant woman approached the Government Hospital here on Wednesday evening for delivery. However much to her dismay, there was no medical officer in the hospital to attend the case.

When her labour pains were intensified, the woman pleaded the nurses for support, who allegedly conducted the delivery in the absence of a doctor. But it was too late as the child did not survive due to medical complications.
The incident made a mockery of KCR Kits programme of the State government, which was launched to promote institutional deliveries.
The absence of doctors and lack of proper infrastructural amenities are proving detrimental to the expectant mothers and their children.
