Karimnagar: Police Commissioner V B Kamalasan Reddy and other officials of Karimnagar Commissionerate have taken a new initiative by introducing ‘Lake Police’ like that of Hyderabad Police to prevent anti-social activities taking place near the Manair Dam, Ujwala Park and Deer Park areas. It was inaugurated by the local MP B Vinod Kumar here on Tuesday who also released Rs 5 lakh funds from the MPLADS scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Kumar said that the police officials must take stringent action against those who involve themselves in anti-social activities disturbing the peaceful atmosphere.

Maintaining peace in the tourist areas is a must for the people. Necessary steps would be taken for setting up of permanent Lake Police Stations at tourist areas present in the Karimnagar District, the MP added.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Kamalasan Reddy said that many people were visiting the tourist spots of Manair Dam, Ujwala Park and Deer Park daily. Some of the youth were misbehaving with the tourists who come here and stealing some valuables by threatening them. To prevent such activities, the Lake Police was set up, he added.

He said that the Lake Police were providing with one Interceptor Vehicle, 2 two wheelers, VHF set, a tent, breath analysers, binoculars, ropes, one drone camera, LED lights, video cameras, branded Jackets and body warn cameras along with installing CCTV cameras in surrounding areas linking with the Command Control System, informed the top cop.

MLAs Ganggula Kamalakar and Naradasu Lakshman Rao, City Mayor Ravinder Singh, District Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed, Municipal Commissioner Shashank, ACPs J Rama Rao and V Tirupati and others were present on the occasion.
