Call to focus on visible policing

Hanamkonda: The police should focus more on preventing crime rather than catching criminals, Warangal Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu said, referring to the importance of visible policing. Speaking at a meeting here on Tuesday, he said that visible policing plays a key role in curbing crime and other social evils in the society.

“The need of the hour is to clearance of pending cases. This apart, we need to ensure punishment to the culprits so that justice would be done to aggrieved,” he said, stressing the importance of executing all the non bailable warrants (NBWs). He directed the officials to form special teams to make their station houses NBW-free.

He also advised the investigation officers to be present during the court proceedings whenever there was a need. Referring to the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s directions, the Commissioner told the officials to make their zones free from social evils such as gutka, matka (satta) and gambling, besides tracking the movements of anti-social elements.

He directed the officials to take measures to settle cases as many as possible in the Lok Adalat scheduled for December 9 in the district court. He said that efforts are on to set up a traffic training centre at Madikonda, a suburban village. DCPs Malla Reddy, Venkat Reddy, additional DCPs Puja, Muralidhar and Ashok Kumar were among others present.
