He appealed to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to respond to the ongoing tussle between the Telangana and Seemandhra agitators and initiate measures to end it.
The BJP state chief has on Friday took part in day-long ‘Maha Deeksha’ organised by the party pressing for Telangana bill and to pay homage to 1100 martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Telangana. As many as 1100 BJP leaders and activists took part in the deekha in honour of the martyrs.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Mr. Kishan Reddy said 160 MPs of the party were ready to vote in favour of Telangana bill if the Centre moves the bill in Parliament. An assurance in this connection was already given by the party national chief Rajnath Singh.
Further he said that the BJP would only vote in favour of Telangana with its existing 10 districts and Hyderabad as its capital. Under any circumference the party would not support the proposal of making Hyderabad a Union Territory.
The CM who was fully aware of the fact that Congress has included Telangana issue in its election manifesto in 2004 and 2009 and thus came to power has been opposing the CWC decision to accord statehood to the region. “If the Congress leadership has any commitment to the cause, it should suspend the CM, PCC chief B Satyanarayana, the MPs and MLAs who were fighting against Congress Working Committee decision,” he demanded.
