The Maharashtra Government has sought views of principals and teachers on a proposal that looks at banning mobile phones sporting camera in the campuses of college and university in order to prevent cyber crimes. Perhaps more States may take a cue to implement the same across their campuses. The proposal is on seeking ban on such devices in colleges and university campuses across the state. On June 25, Mumbai University issued a circular to affiliated colleges seeking their view. The letter was sent after a presentation to Minister for Higher and Technical Education Rajesh Tope, from the NCP activist Ashok Lad from Aurangabad. Ashok mentioned the concerns over use of easily accessible camera phones in cyber crimes. The University is yet to submit a report on these proposed steps. - Agencies
