Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations wherein students represent different countries in different councils and debate on the agenda setup in each council. Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, will host this grand event this week. HMTV and The Hans India are the media partners for the event.
Nearly 300 students from different parts of India and abroad (from as far as Ghana and Bangladesh) will come together for the third edition of Model United Nations (MUN) at from September 6 to 8 to be held at Golkonda Resorts in Hyderabad. The event features seven councils and four major competitions which includes extempore, GSL speeches, UN quiz and resolution writing.
The organisers said they have arranged for recreation and sports for delegates. The opening ceremony will take place on September 6. September 7 will be traditional day. Debates will take place on all the three days. Closing ceremony is on September 8.
Last year the CBITMUN team visited a girl’s school to educate them about gender equality. This year, the team visited Sadhana Institute for Mentally Challenged to distribute chocolates and taught them dance. The team is also taking training sessions in almost all the major schools in South India.
“CBIT MUN is special because of the initiatives that we take up. We were the first ones in Andhra Pradesh to take MUN to an international level. We are more into social welfare which itself makes us stand out from the other MUN’s,” says Santosh from the organising team.
While Sreekar Reddy is the head of the CBIT MUN team, the other team members include Kirtana, Head of logistics delegate resources, Sujit as the treasurer, Sangam Patil, Nagarjun Redla and Avinash.
