45 men, 6 women teams for Hyd basketball league

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad District Basketball Association will conduct the GM Sampath Kumar Annual League Basketball Championship 2026 at the YMCA Secunderabad Basketball Grounds from September 17. The championship will feature 45 men’s and six women’s teams.

The men’s competition will be played across three levels, with teams seeded according to their performance in last year’s edition. The six women’s teams will compete in a league format.

Level III has 21 teams divided into five pools, including four pools of four teams and one pool of five. The competition will follow a league-cum-knockout format, with the top four teams advancing to Level II, where they will join 12 teams. Level II will have four pools of four teams, with its top four sides progressing to Level I. Level I will comprise 12 teams divided into four pools of three, playing league-cum-knockout matches. The top two teams from each pool will advance to the quarterfinal knockouts to decide the champion.

Defending champions Keystone Basketball Academy and runners-up Titans have received top seeding in Pools A and B respectively. Level I also features South Central Railway, Nizam Basketball Academy, Sanathnagar PG, Victory PG, G9, YMCA Secunderabad, CGST & Customs, Income Tax Hyderabad, State Bank of India Hyderabad and Army Ordnance Corps.

Level II includes YMCA Hyderabad, BITS Hyderabad, Loyola Academy, Secunderabad Club, Stadium Club, Rising Star Secunderabad, BHEL Club, City College Old Boys, Young Men Guild, Good Training Academy, Saints and St. Francis Boys.

Level III features 125 Infantry Battalion, All Saints, All Star KVBR, Alpha Basketball Academy, BITS PHC, Freestyle Ballers, Gymkhana Club, Greyhounds, HAL-Golden Phoenixes, Hoopsters Club, KVBR, Mahendra Hills Basketball Club, Mamata Medical College, Nehrunagar PG, Rahimpura PG, Sunday Ballers, SBI Amravati, Titans ‘B’, Trinity Basketball Promotions, RBVR Club and SSBA Tarnaka.
