Hyderabad: S Appoorwa, a Carrom phenomenon, who excelled in the International arena by pocketing number of International titles including two world championships and ultimately emerging as Indian National Champion of 48th Senior Nationals held at Jalgaon in the first week of February, 2020 was felicitated by her employer, LIC joined by CAT.

If her employer LIC stands as a market leader, sports recruite of LIC, Appoorwa does the same in Carrom arena.

Though Appoorwa went on winning all possible international titles, like World championship, World Cup, ICF Cup and Maladives Cup, the National title which eluded her for 18 years has now reached her at the 48th Senior Nationals.

After winning the World Championship in 2004 and becoming almost a forgotten player, she staged a fabulous come back in 2016 to win

the individual title of 7th World Carrom Championship held at Burmingham. She followed it up by emerging winner in ICF cup, World Cup and Maladives Cup.

She was duly felicitated by South Central Zone of LIC at LIC's Zonal Training Centre, Hyderabad Zonal Manager Mini Ipe.

Regional Manager (HRD) Y Venkateswarlu and president of Carrom Association of Telangana, BK Haranath, complemented Appoorwa for promoting Indian Carrom in international arena on par with LIC, the dominating corporate institution of India.

In her reply, Appoorwa acknowledged the different facilities and incentives given by LIC like on-duty relief for 30 days prior to World Champions, other than half day relief throughout the year.

She also thanked LIC for two out of turn promotions in her career so far which helped her in touching several peaks in the mountain range of Carrom.

Appoorwa would hit a hat-trick if she wins the forthcoming World Championship scheduled to be held in Malaysia in June.
