This year, TikTok was the most downloaded app across the globe, as per the latest data report from mobile app analytics from App Annie. This year TikTok has been downloaded the most on Android and iOS.

TikTok surpassed Facebook as the most downloaded app this year. Facebook is now the second most downloaded application, followed by WhatsApp. App Annie even predicts that TikTok will break the 1 billion monthly active users (MAU) club in 2021. In 2020, it secured the eighth position among the apps with the most MAUs. TikTok also rose to No. 2 in consumer spending this year. Tinder continues to lead this space.

App Annie shared in its report, "TikTok's tidal wave continued throughout 2020 — particularly as content-hungry consumers flocked to the app to create, socialize and stay entertained — even increasing its cross-app usage with major video streaming players like Netflix, indicating that TikTok is not only blurring the lines between social and streaming but is a force to be reckoned with in the streaming world in its own right and is all set to break into the 1 billion monthly active user club in 2021."

Zoom was another revolutionary app this year with video communication booming due to the pandemic. Zoom's ranking climbed 219 spots to become the fourth most downloaded app globally. Among the other innovative apps this year, Google Meet also stood out in terms of downloads. Disney + also had a great year expanding globally to more markets.
