Vikarabad: The deadline for the first phase of MPTC and ZPTC elections was on Wednesday. The candidates contesting for MPTC and ZPTC seats have filed nominations in a big number.

The first two days witnessed nominal visitors, but there was heavy rush on the last day. On a single day, a total of 52 nominations for seven ZPTC seats and 441 for 97 MPTC seats were filed. The officials faced a tough time to handle the process on the last day. In the first phase, 60 candidates filed nominations for ZPTC, while 506 filed nomination papers for MPTC seats.

The elections are being held in the first phase for the seven ZPTC and 97 MPTC seats in Doulatabad, Kondangal, Bomraspet, Parigi, Pudur, Doma and Kulkacharla mandals. The candidates did not show interest in filing nominations in the first two days. As many as ten members filed nominations for ZPTC seat in the mandal and 59 candidates filed nominations for 11 MPTC seats in the Kodangal mandal.

In Doulatabad, 10 candidates filed nominations for the ZPTC seat and 84 nominations received for 15 MPTC seats. As many as five candidates for the ZPTC seat and 74 candidates for 15 MPTC seats filed nominations in Bomraspet. Seven candidates for ZPTC seat and 60 candidates for 13 MPTC seats filed nominations in Parigi.

In Pudur, 13 candidates for ZPTC and 80 candidates for 13 MPTC seats filed their nominations. Five for ZPTC and 70 candidates for the 14 MPTC seats filed nominations in Doma mandal. The ruling TRS filed more than one nomination for each ZPTC. The actual candidate is yet to be decided. The main opposition, Congress, did not reveal their candidates, while other parties are still contemplating to announce their chairman candidate for the Zilla Parishad.
