5-member panel set up to recommend reforms in examination system

Hyderabad: A meeting of the vice-chancellors of the 11 State University, held under the aegis of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE), has decided to appoint a five-member committee to recommend reforms in examination system.

Attended by the State Education Secretary B Janardhan Reddy and TSCHE Chairman Prof T Papi Reddy, the meeting discussed elaborately on the developments in the aftermath of the Intermediate Public Examinations -2019 results fiasco.

Taking stock of the seriousness of such incidents, the meeting stressed the need to put a robust mechanism in place to ensure such incidents are not repeated in degree and postgraduate examinations.

Following the discussions, it was decided not to give self-examination centres to the private colleges.

Similarly, the examination and evaluation process should be overseen by the higher authorities and not to leave the same to the controller of examinations.

Accordingly, a committee of five members was constituted to prepare a report within a month to come up with necessary reforms needed.

Vice-Chancellors of the Osmania, Kakiatya and Mahatma Gandhi Universities and the two of the Vice-Chairman of the TSCHE are the members of the committee.
