Warangal: Till a few weeks ago, four of them were a happy bunch of homemakers looking after their families, one is an Anganwadi teacher and the other one is a degree second year student. And none of them have political experience. But for their family political backdrop, all the six women of the nine elected for the urban local bodies (ULBs) in erstwhile Warangal district have no political experience. Understandably, they hailed from families that have political backdrop. It appears like that they all drew inspiration either from their parents or husband.

Fulfilling the aspiration of her father is the 23-year-old Angoth Aruna, one of the youngest of the nine municipal chairpersons in erstwhile Warangal district. Presently, she is a second year student of BSc (BZC) in the Government Degree College at Rangasaipet in Warangal. Her father is Bikshapathy, TRS leader who hitherto had worked with Telegu Desam.

Speaking to The Hans India, Angoth Aruna said: "I always admired my father who always worked for the people even though he didn't get any post in his political career." Referring to her daughter, Bikshapathy said: "Aruna has always been compassionate towards others right from the childhood. It's happy to see her as the municipal chairperson post. Despite my penchant for politics, I could not get an opportunity to serve the people."

Elsewhere 70 kilometers north of Warangal, Seggem Venkata Rani, a postgraduate who has been working as an Anganwadi teacher at Jangedu village in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, made a surprise entry into the politics. Her husband Siddu, a native of Seggempally village, is said to be a contractor and a staunch supporter of MLA G Venkatramana Reddy.

With not much educational qualification behind her, 45-year-old Soda Anitha is now at the helm of affairs of the Parkal municipality. She was inspired by her husband Ramakrishna.

Representing the newly upgraded Maripeda municipality is 22-year-old homemaker Guguloth Sindhura Kumari, a new entrant to the politics. Sindhura, a law graduate, is said to be the youngest municipal chairperson in the erstwhile Warangal district.

Gunti Rajani, who studied SSC is also a homemaker. Her husband Kishan is a former councilor and had participated in the Telangana Movement.

Pokala Jamuna is another homemaker who grabbed the municipal chairperson post in Jangaon where the fight between the TRS and the Congress went down to the wire. She is backed by her husband Lingaiah who had a vast political experience. He worked as the Councilor and also the chairman of the PACS. He was also the Telegu Desam town president sometime ago.

On the other hand, the new chairman of Mahabubabad municipality Palvai Rammohan Reddy is a surgeon. He joined the TRS in 2004 after his stint with TDP as the State Vice-President of the Telegu Yuvatha.

Mangalapally Ramchandraiah who is now the chairman of Thorrur municipality is a follower of Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao since their days with the TDP. The 50-year-old Vankudoth Veeranna who has a qualification of SSC is one of the senior politicians in Dornakal region. He held several posts such as MPTC, Mandal Parishad Vice-president etc. in the past. His wife Sujatha had in the past held the post of Dornakal Mandal Parishad.
