Govt realising poor’s dream of owning a house: Ponguleti

Bhadrachalam: Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday said the state government was implementing the Indiramma Houses scheme with the objective of helping poor and middle-class families to realise their dream of owning a house.

The government would ensure that all eligible poor families were covered under the scheme, he said, adding that houses would be sanctioned in the third phase and, if required, in the fourth phase as well. The minister inaugurated a newly constructed Indiramma house of beneficiary Mamidi Mounika at a colony near Ambasatram in Bhadrachalam. Mahabubabad MP Porika Balram Naik, Bhadrachalam MLA Tellam Venkat Rao, Aswaraopeta MLA Jare Adinarayana and District Collector Ankit participated in the housewarming ceremony.

Ponguleti also presented new clothes to the beneficiary and her family members on the occasion.

Speaking later, the minister said the government was giving priority to providing permanent houses to eligible families and sought to bring greater stability and security to the lives of poor households through the housing programme.

He reiterated that steps would be taken to ensure that every eligible poor family received an Indiramma house.

Superintendent of Police Rohit Raj, District Congress president Devi Prasanna, public representatives and Congress leaders were among those present.
