Want the State govt to supply N95 masks and sanitisers in hospitals

Hyderabad: As Covid-19 positive cases continue to increase in Telangana, the medical staff working in all government hospitals are a worried lot.

They are discharging duties without wearing safety masks sometimes due to limited stocks in view of the present situation.

While those tasked with Covid-19 duties are being made to wear N95 masks, sanitisers and protective kits without fail, the other staff working in the same premises are moving without taking necessary precautions

With the health department creating isolation facilities in several hospitals including those in districts, there is a regular flow of suspected cases and their contacts including family members, relatives and friends into these hospitals.

Hence, it is very important that all medical staff, not just doctors wear protective gear as they are working in a zone frequented by people affected by Covid-19.

Medical JAC delegation led by Dr Bongu Ramesh met Health Minister Eatala Rajender on Friday and requested him to do the needful in this regard.

They also appealed to him to provide transport facility to all staff working in isolation wards.

NIMS resident doctors also requested the government to provide them N95 masks, sanitisers, protective kits etc.

Stop non-emergency OPD at NIMS Meanwhile, resident doctors at NIMS have appealed to the government to stop non-emergency OPD services at NIMS in view of a spike in positive and suspected cases in the State.

They said other institutions like PGIMER, SRM etc. took a similar decision. The resident doctors' association addressed a letter to the Special Chief Secretary (Health) in this regard.
