Good news for all electricity consumers in the Telangana state. Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission (TGERC) has issued orders that there will be no power tariff hike in 2026-2027 financial year. The Commission also announced that ex gratia to the persons, who were electrocuted has been increased to Rs 8 lakh from Rs 5 lakh from this year.

Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission also issued orders that there will be no power tariff hike in the 2025-2026 financial year. However , the commission increased the ToD ( Time of Day ) tariff from Rupee 1 per unit to Rs 1.50 during peak hours.

In the order , the TGERC has determined the ARR for FY 2026-27 for an amount of Rs. 64,950.72 crore against the claim of Rs. 72,996 crore. Furthermore, the commission has approved a revenue gap of Rs. 15,105.91 crore against claim of Rs. 22,104 crore. The government has committed a subsidy of Rs 14,000 crore for 2026-27 and balance Rs. 1,105.91 crore has been allocated as Regulatory Asset.

For categories where ToD tariffs are applicable, an incentive of Rs. 0.50/ unit is provided during the daytime hours i.e; 10 am to 6 pm and increased the ToD tariff from Re 1.00/unit to Rs 1.50 /unit during peak hours i.e; 6 am to 10 am and 6 pm to 10 pm. Thereby, normal tariffs shall remain applicable for the time slot of 10 pm to 6 am.

The TGDISCOMs were directed to submit detailed circle wise monthly reports indicating the number of electrical accidents occurred, reasons for such electrical accidents, ex-gratia paid, and if not paid within two months from date of accident the reasons for the delay. The TGDISCOMs are directed to simplify documentation requirements for claiming the Ex-gratia and ensure claims are settled expeditiously.

Charges recovered from end consumers under single-point HT-VI (Townships and Residential Colonies) shall be strictly proportionate to actual consumption and shall not exceed the applicable HT-VI tariff under any circumstances. No additional charges of any nature shall be levied beyond such proportionate amount.

TGDISCOMs are directed to bring this directive to the notice of all such societies within their jurisdiction. The DISCOMS were also directed to adjust the excess amounts billed to HT consumers on account of unblocking of leading kVArh during the first two months of implementation in the next six billing cycles from the date of issue of this order.

For HT consumers, during unblocking period change in category due to change in demand may be ignored for the first two months of implementation of unblocking of leading kVArh for the purpose of kVAh billing.

In order to promote rooftop solar adoption and ensure fairness in billing, the Commission instructed the DISCOMs to revert to the earlier practice of determining tariff slabs based on net consumption (import minus export) for net metered solar rooftop consumers.

TGDISCOMs are further directed to adjust the excess amounts collected from such consumers due to the change in billing methodology, against the next three billing cycles from the date of issue of this Order.
