Officials' efforts pay off, polls pass off smoothly
The first phase of Parishad elections in the district ended peacefully. Three MPTC seats were elected unanimously. Elections were held for 7 ZPTC and 94 MPTC seats.
Parigi: The first phase of Parishad elections in the district ended peacefully. Three MPTC seats were elected unanimously. Elections were held for 7 ZPTC and 94 MPTC seats.
As many as 1,84,990 voters out of 2,65,035 exercised their franchise. A total of 68.84 polling percentage was recorded. The highest polling percentage was in Pudur (76.86) and lowest was in Kodangal (58.91).
Though the polling process started slow in the morning, it picked up by the evening. Collector Masrat Khanm Ayesha supervised the process and monitored the situation on the ground. She was constantly giving Joint Collector Arunakumari visited several polling centres.
SP Narayana visited sensitive areas. Tents and drinking water were arranged at polling centres and pregnant women, old people, specially challenged peoples were transported to the centres free of cost.
