Kothagudem: District Superintendent of Police Rohith Raju on Wednesday stressed the need for a strong institutional mechanism to ensure safety, dignity and rights of women police personnel.

Addressing an awareness programme on the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013, held at the district police headquarters, the SP said women police personnel should feel free to report workplace-related problems and difficulties through the ICC.

He said every woman employee should be aware of the provisions of the POSH Act, which seeks to prevent sexual harassment at the workplace. The ICC would remain accessible to protect the dignity, safety and rights of women employees, he said.

Rohith Raju assured the women personnel that they could also bring any work-related difficulties directly to his notice and necessary action would be taken to resolve their problems. Creating a safe and supportive working environment in which women police personnel could discharge their duties with confidence was the collective responsibility of the department, he said.

The SP also called upon women police personnel to strengthen their technological skills and familiarise themselves with modern policing applications, including NATGRID, Gandeeva and Sahyog, for effective use in their day-to-day duties.
