Ajay sets new Indian record by making smallest gold violin and gold scissors
Warangal: Mattewada Ajay Kumar, who made a name for himself as an extremely talented micro-artist has won many an accolade, needs his awards shelf in his villa located in the upscale Ramky Enclave extended further to accommodate two more citations given by the Limca Book of Records.
Professionally, he is a goldsmith but what makes him special is his penchant for miniature art form which needs loads of patience and intricate handwork tailored with finesse.
It may be noted here that Ajay's brilliant work - portraying Dandi March, also known as Salt Satyagraha, in wax-made idols inserted in the eye of a needle - is now part of prestigious National Salt Satyagraha Memorial (NSSM) Project in Navsari district of Gujarat that epitomises the spirit and the energy in India's fight to end the British colonial rule.
Ajay has now received confirmation from the Limca Book of Records management that his handmade 'Smallest Gold Violin' and 'Smallest Gold Scissors' have set a new Indian record.
The length of the smallest gold violin, which has four steel strings, is 20 mm. The gold used for it was 0.740 milligrams. The time it consumed for making is 12 hours.
The length of the scissors is 11 mm and it's made with 0.180 milligrams of gold. It took just three hours for Ajay to make the scissors.
Ajay had already received Limca Record in 2004 for producing world's smallest gold lock. This apart, he also entered Limca Records for making smallest functional fan. In all, the 46-year-old Ajay now has five Limca Records in his kitty.
A freedom fighter riding a horse with the India flag on a pinhead, wax-made miniature idol of Lord Vinayaka made inserted in the eye of a needle and the micro masterpiece of Jesus Christ are some of prominent among his works.
This apart, he also etched the portraits of eminent personalities such as AB Vajpayee, PV Narasimha Rao, Prof Jayashankar and others on rice grains.
Speaking to The Hans India, Ajay said: "My ambition is to bring laurels for India in the field of micro-sculpting. To my knowledge, I am the third one in the world to make miniature objects that were inserted into the eye of the needle."
Warangal East MLA Nannapuneni Narender commended Ajay and said: "Ajay carved out a unique path in micro sculpting and I expect him to bring more accolades to Warangal on the world stage."
