TPCC chief backs Amaravati move, targets Centre on Telangana

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud welcomed the Central Government’s approval of the bill in the Lok Sabha granting statutory recognition to Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to the people of Andhra Pradesh on this landmark decision.
At the same time, Mahesh Kumar Goud strongly criticised the Centre for failing to implement the promises made to Telangana during its bifurcation under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014. He expressed concern over what he described as a discriminatory approach, noting that several key assurances for Telangana remain unfulfilled.
He highlighted critical issues, including the establishment of the Bayyaram Steel Plant, the Kazipet Railway Coach Factory, an Indian Institute of Management, and the granting of National Project status to major irrigation schemes, emphasising that these initiatives are essential for the development of the state. Mahesh Kumar Goud further alleged that the Central Government has not delivered on other commitments, such as special funds for backward region development and industrial incentives, which were crucial for equitable growth in Telangana.
He called it unjust to grant statutory recognition to one state while ignoring the aspirations and entitlements of another. Urging immediate action, Mahesh Kumar Goud demanded that the Centre implement all assurances under the Reorganisation Act to uphold the rights and development interests of the people of Telangana. He stressed that honouring these promises is vital for the growth of the state and to ensure balanced regional development.
