I just happened to open my Amazon Prime Video and guess what I saw in the featured recommendation list of the live streaming site? Paatal Lok. A new web series starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Neeraj Kabi, Abhishek Banerjee, Gul Panag, Swastika Mukherjee, Ishwak Singh, Mairembam Ronaldo Singh and Niharika Lyra Dutt. Prosit Roy and Avinash Arun have directed this new web series on Amazon Prime Video. Paatal Lok is produce by Anushka Sharma and written by Sudip Sharma. So is it worth watching? Yes. Read on to know why.

Set in Delhi, the crime thriller Paatal Lok revolves around the story of a popular TV presenter who is on killers' hitlist. But how the celebrity anchor became a target in the first place forms the crux of the story. Paatal Lok means netherworld basically meaning it's not heaven. This doesn't mean it's some kind of salvation or punishment for wrong doers. Paatal Lok is cleverly written and draws a parallel between the sophisticated class and the working class. So the hell suggested in the title is right here on earth. There is a bit of violence and bloodsheds in some places which is very integral to the plot.

What strikes about the plot is its narration and the way the subject is handled. Dialogues create an impact and are sure to hit you in a few parts. Besides Delhi, parts of Paatal Lok is also set in Chitrakoot and rural Punjab.

Being dubbed as India's answer to Sacred Games on Netflix, Paatal Lok goes on to prove that Indian web series have evolved and how!

Rating: 3.5/5
