The 200cc-400cc performance bikes segment witnessed good sales growth in the month of July 2017. Apart from KTM, all other 2-wheeler brands have posted a growth in sales. Under the GST, 2-wheelers below 350cc saw a reduction in the rates of taxes.

The 200cc-400cc performance bikes segment witnessed good sales growth in the month of July 2017. Apart from KTM, all other 2-wheeler brands have posted a growth in sales. Under the GST, 2-wheelers below 350cc saw a reduction in the rates of taxes.

The Royal Enfield Classic 350 still occupies the coveted first spot selling 42,967 units. The Pulsar 180, NS 200 and RS 200 (combined) sold 16,184 units in July as opposed to 8735 units in June 2017 thereby posting a growth of 85 percent in sales. The Royal Enfield Bullet 350 sold 8644 units occupying the third spot.

The Pulsar 220, in spite of being in the Indian market for over a decade, still continues to bring good volumes for Bajaj. 6861 units of the Pulsar 220 were sold in July 2017. The Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 takes the fifth spot selling 4481 units, followed by the Bajaj Avenger 220 which sold 4361 units in July 2017.

The Royal Enfield Bullet Electra and Yamaha FZ25 sold 3753 and 2912 units respectively. Sitting at the ninth spot are the KTM Duke and RC 200 selling 2786 units in July 2017. The Bajaj Dominar 400 is back in the numbers game with 1341 units being sold in July as opposed to 927 units in June 2017. Bajaj had said that a new variant under all its 7 brands will be launched by this year end and we can’t wait to see what Bajaj has planned for the Dominar.

The KTM Duke and RC 390 slipped to the eleventh spot selling 927 units in July 2017 while the Duke 250 holds on to its twelveth spot. 676 units of the KTM Duke 250 were sold in July. Sitting at the thirteenth spot, the Mahindra Mojo is the highest gainer in this list posting double the sales as compared to the previous month. 89 units of the Mojo were sold in July 2017.

The Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Z250 sold 31 and 3 units respectively in July, while the Hero Karizma, Honda CBR250R and Royal Enfield Himalayan sold 0 units. The CBR250R’s engine wasn’t BS4 compliant and hence Honda has stopped selling the CBR250R in India but the motorcycle is expected to make a return in the coming months.
