Kakinada: The APTA (American Progressive Telugu Association) has announced that it would distribute scholarships to poor students here on December 10. Speaking to ‘The Hans India’ the APTA district representative and District Vigilance Committee (on SCs and STs) member, Dhulipudi Venkata Ramana (Bobby) informed that the APTA was established in the year 2008, with a view to bringing the Telugu community on a common platform.

He further said that their motto was to encourage the merit students who were financially poor. Their organisation was going to distribute scholarships worth Rs 1.5 crore to 1,000 students who had secured more than 70 per cent marks in SSC and Intermediate. The scholarships were being given to mark APTA's tenth anniversary celebrations.

He also informed that they would give scholarships to meritorious students of 10th, Intermediate and degree classes. The mega distribution event would be held at Kapu Kalyana Mandapam here. They will distribute 400 scholarships worth Rs 60 lakh to the students of East and West Godavari districts. Their organisation will distribute scholarships to Krishna district students at Vijayawada on December 17.
