Tirupati, Sept 3: Task Force personnel recovered 27 redsander logs which were left behind by the fleeing smugglers in Balapalli forest area on the Chittoor - Kadapa districts border in the early hours of Tuesday.

The smugglers numbering about 30 managed to flee after attacking the force with stones.

Task Force team led by RSI Ravikumar along with Civil Police led by Srihari were on an intense combing in the forest starting from Gunjana forest area on Monday night.

When the force reached Balapalli forest area, they spotted a gang of smugglers carrying redsander logs moving the plain area and chased them.

The smugglers finding the force approaching them, attacked the force with stones and managed to escape, leaving behind the logs.

Task Force In charge SP Ravisankar along with DSP Allabaksh reached the forest area intensifying the search for the smugglers. In the subsequent searches, the Force recovered 27 redsander logs left behind the smugglers.

SP Ravisankar congratulated the personnel for foiling the smugglers attempt to smuggle the redsander logs, braving heavy rains and pitched darkness in the forest.
