In a major fire mishap, over 30 thatched houses were completely gutted, after a fire broke out at Dwarakanagar Colony in Chodavaram on Monday. However, there were no casualties and injuries to the residents reported in the incident.

Visakhapatnam: In a major fire mishap, over 30 thatched houses were completely gutted, after a fire broke out at Dwarakanagar Colony in Chodavaram on Monday. However, there were no casualties and injuries to the residents reported in the incident.

The area has over 50 thatched huts and daily wage labourers and petty vendor families are living in the houses.

The fire broke out from one of the huts in the afternoon and spread to others. According to the sources, three LPG cylinders were exploded in the fire.

However, the families in the houses escaped from fire without any injuries.

The firemen suspecting that electric short-circuit might be the reason for mishap. Revenue Divisional Officer, Anakapalle, MV Suryakala along with the officials of police, revenue and other departments rushed to the spot and started relief arrangements.

Speaking to media, the RDO said that efforts are being to accommodate families at a temporary shelter and estimate the loss of property in the incident.
