30,000 people likely to return to Andhra Pradesh from abroad

Vijayawada: Principal Secretary (Transport Department) and member of the Covid-19 State committee MT Krishna Babu said on Saturday that 30,000 Andhra people registered their names to enter Andhra Pradesh from other countries by flights.

He said the first flight from the US will land in Delhi on May 11 and the passengers will come to Vijayawada, Tirupati and Vizag airports.

Speaking to the media, Krishna Babu said that it was estimated that 20,000 people mostly migrant workers, students, pilgrims and others who were held up in other countries mostly in the Gulf countries may return to Andhra Pradesh. He said passengers belonging to Rayalaseema and Nellore districts will arrive at Tirupati airport, passengers of three north coastal districts and East Godavari will land at Vizag airport.

Passengers from Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and West Godavari will arrive at Vijayawada airport. He informed that 14 days quarantine is must for the foreign returnees and arrangements are underway for the stay in the hotels on payment of charges by the foreign returnees.

He said the hotel charges range between Rs 1,500 and Rs 3,000 per day and it is the choice of the foreign returnees to choose the hotels they wanted to stay during the quarantine period. Referring to people who return from other States to Andhra Pradesh, Krishna Babu said they can obtain pass from other States to enter AP.
