AP minister takes action to contain infectious diseases, proposes dry day on Friday

AP Minister Satya Kumar Yadav informed that special measures have been taken to control the infectious diseases. Minister also reminded people to be careful as rains are likely to increase the spread of Dengue and Malaria.

Speaking on Sunday, in Amaravati, Minister Yadav asked the concerned authorities to keep a close watch on areas where infection is on the rise. He also directed to take necessary action steps. He also directed to spray insecticide in the malaria infected tribal areas. The minister also asked to increase the distribution of mosquito nets.

The minister also proposed to organize a 'Dry Day' program on every Friday in which people, ASHA workers, health workers and secretariat employees can participate. He also directed to set up a system to raise alarm at the first instance of spike in infections.

Yadav informed that till end of August, 7,895 cases of malaria have been reported, which is 27.9 percent higher than that of last year. He said focusing on controlling malaria in Alluri, Polavaram, Vizianagaram districts is crucial and directed to take up second round of insecticide spray in these districts. He also directed to spray in Parvathipuram Manyam and Eluru.

The minister also informed that nearly 6 lakh mosquito nets will be distributed to the eligible beneficiary list. It may be noted that this step is a part of measures taken to check the vector borne diseases.
