The Meteorological Department has issued of heavy rain warning in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana due to expected cyclone. The rain is likely to occur in the state on 19th to 24th of this month. Many districts of AP have been put on 'Yellow Alert' while the 'Orange Alert' has been issued for Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda and Narayanpet districts. Moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms is likely to occur in these districts. Gusty winds of 40 kmph and isolated pockets of rain and thunderstorms are also expected. Hyderabad Met department has advised people to stay alert as there are likely to be heavy rains.

Yellow Alert for Telangana as Heavy Rains Forecasted in Many Districts

A heavy rainfall has been forecasted in many districts of North and South Telangana from today till 24th. The rainfall is likely to be more than normal in the coming days. Light to moderate rains are likely to occur from 25th September till October 1st. On Friday, rainfall was recorded in many districts. Hanwada Mandal in Mahabubnagar district recorded the highest rainfall at 7.4 cm. Doulthabad Mandal in Vikarabad recorded 3.4 cm of rainfall while 6.7 mm rainfall was recorded in Choutuppal of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri. Ibrahimpatnam in Ranga Reddy recorded 6 mm of rainfall.

According to Indian Meterological Department (IMD), a low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal's North Andaman region. It is likely to intensify into a depression by 21st or 22nd September. There are also chances that it might intensify into a deep depression or a cyclone. Heavy rains are likely to occur in Andhra Pradesh on 22nd and 23rd, especially in North Coastal region.

Parvathipuram Manyam, Alluri Sitarama Raju, Polavaram, Kakinada, East Godavari, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Palnadu, Prakasam, Tirupati, Chittoor, Kurnool, Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai and Annamayya districts have been put on 'Yellow Alert' for heavy rains. As the threat of a cyclone is near, the authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation.
