In a step to inspire young naval officers for taking up research in vast Maritime domain, a Junior Officers’ Maritime Studies Seminar (JOMSS) was organised at Samudrika Naval Auditorium here on Thursday.

Visakhapatnam: In a step to inspire young naval officers for taking up research in vast Maritime domain, a Junior Officers' Maritime Studies Seminar (JOMSS) was organised at Samudrika Naval Auditorium here on Thursday. The unique initiative was inaugurated by Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command (ENC) Vice Admiral Atul Kumar Jain.

Coordinated by Naval Dockyard, the seminar was aimed to provide a platform to young officers to present their ideas, channelise their thought process and bring out innovative ideas/solutions for more efficient operations in the maritime domain. The programme comprised the presentation of three papers on selected topics by young officers of various Naval Units of ENC followed by a brainstorming session.

Three topics that were presented during the seminar were Falklands War, Maritime Operations in Eastern Seaboard Indo-Pak War 1971 and Employment of Disruptive Technologies towards transforming Indian Navy's Process in Maintenance and Logistics.
