Kakinada: Responding to the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the people in the city geared up to participate in Janata Curfew from 7 am to 9 pm voluntarily on Sunday. Meanwhile, the management of various business establishments in the district also came forward to make the Janata curfew a grand success.

In view of the clarion call given by Narendra Modi for Janta Curfew, District Collector D Murlaidhar Reddy has convened a meeting and called upon the people to be vigilant about the coronavirus. He suggested to people to stay indoors on Sunday. He said nearly 1,700 people who came from abroad have been identified and quarantined. He said in Bommuru, 125 beds isolation ward has been installed.

He said all festivals and fairs were strictly banned across the district and added separate task force comprising the police and the revenue have been constituted to deal with the situation. He said steps have been taken for maintaining cleanliness and hygienic conditions at all Village Secretariats. All the hospitals would work round-the-clock, he added.

Superintendent of Police Adnan Nayeem Asmi and Additional Municipal Commissioner Naga Narasimha Rao have instructed the shops and shopping malls to close down their business in view of Janata Curfew. The Rythu Bazars were flooded with customers in view of closure of shops. All petrol bunks have also been closed.
