Ongole: Prakasam district collector Dr Pola Bhaskara inaugurated the Chaitanya Ratham, the vehicle specifically intended for creating awareness on women empowerment, safety, and protection in the state, as part of the 100-days programme designed by the Andhra Pradesh Mahila Commission.

Speaking on the occasion on Monday at the Collectorate, he said that they prepared an action plan to complete the campaign by Women's Day on March 8.

He said that they were going to create awareness on one topic each week for 12 weeks. He announced that they were creating awareness on Disha Act by the Andhra Pradesh government, Disha App, Abhaya App, Disha police stations, and the acts that protect women in the first week from December 14 to 19.

After inaugurating the Chaitanya Ratham provided by the World Vision, an NGO, he launched the posters designed to create awareness on sexual abuse on children, gender-based violence and flagged off the rally. He announced that the rally would tour the Kandukur area and create awareness among women and girls. He asked the local NGOs also to participate in the programmes.

The ICDS PD Lakshmi Devi, advisor on Prevention of Women from Domestic Violence Act S Sarala, DPO Narayana Reddy, MEPMA PD Raghu, and others also participated in the programme.
