People urged to stay alert as heavy rains lash ASR dist

Paderu: Alluri Sitarama Raju district collector T Nishanthi has urged people to remain alert as heavy rains continued across the district under the influence of a depression over the Bay of Bengal. Reviewing the situation at the control room at the Collectorate here on Wednesday, the Collector directed officials and staff to remain available round the clock until normal conditions were restored.

The collector instructed Panchayat officials to chlorinate water tanks in all villages to prevent contamination and ensure safe drinking water. Sanitation measures should also be intensified in rural areas.

Officials were asked to send regular alerts to the public on the weather conditions and intensity of the depression. R&B officials were told to clear fallen trees on ghat roads promptly to ensure uninterrupted public transport. Disaster response teams should be kept ready for immediate deployment wherever required, she said. People can contact the Collectorate control room on 08935-293448 in case of emergencies.
