Plenty of opportunities for statistics students: Economist P Naresh Kumar
There are plenty of job opportunities to statistics students as surveyors and statisticians and better employment opportunities in the fields of medicine, marketing, business, said P Naresh Kumar, Economist, APCRDA, who was the chief guest at the National Statistics Day celebrations organised by the Department of Statistics of Maris Stella College here on Saturday.
Vijayawada: There are plenty of job opportunities to statistics students as surveyors and statisticians and better employment opportunities in the fields of medicine, marketing, business, said P Naresh Kumar, Economist, APCRDA, who was the chief guest at the National Statistics Day celebrations organised by the Department of Statistics of Maris Stella College here on Saturday.
The programme was organised to create awareness on statistics in everyday life and sensitise students about the role of statistics in shaping and framing policies. Speaking on the occasion, Naresh Kumar said, "National Statistics Day is observed to mark the birth anniversary of Prof Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, an eminent statistician, by the Central Government since 2007.
He stressed upon the 'Changing Scenario of Statistics' in today's world. Even in the State and Central Governments they can be selected as data analysts and financial analysts.Dr Sr Innysamma, college vice-principal, Saraja, HoD Statistics department, Syed Parveen, Srilekha and students of Statistics Department participated in the programme.
As many as 100 students from different colleges in Vijayawada participated in different competitions like PPTs, poster presentations, and elocution competitions and won the prizes. Economist P Naresh Kumar also addressed the students of Maris Stella College in connection with the National Statistics Day celebrations on Saturday.
