Vijayawada: Narasapuram sitting MP Raghurama Krishna Raju has alleged that he could not get the BJP ticket to contest the ensuing Lok Sabha polls due to the role played by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He reacted sharply after the BJP announced the list of Lok Sabha candidates from AP for the ensuing polls. The BJP had ignored Raghurama Krishna Raju’s candidature.

He was elected from Narsapuram on behalf of the YSRCP in 2019 and later he turned rebel in the party. Raghurama Krishna Raju had strong differences with the YSRCP and CM Jagan. He hoped either the TDP or BJP would field him from the same Narasapuram Lok Sabha constituency for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

But, the two parties have ignored him. The TDP allotted Narasapuram LS constituency to BJP as part of the seat sharing arrangement of the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance. The BJP has fielded Srinivasa Varma from Narasapuram.

Shocked with the denial of ticket, Raghurama Krishna Raju spoke to the media on Sunday night and alleged that Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy was behind the denial of ticket to him. Raghurama Krishna Raju alleged that the YSRCP long time back hatched a plan to kill him. The State police severely beat him up, he recalled.
