The reasons behind most of the instances where girls are dropping out from schools are lack of infrastructures like toilets and a facility to take some rest when they are on the menstrual period.

It is revealed in many studies that girls are not drinking enough water daily and damaging their metabolism due to the fear to enter dirty toilets. So the administration at the ZPHS Girls in Eepurupalem in Chirala mandal wanted to bring change in their limits and see no girl school drops out in the coming educational year.

The ZPHS Girls in Eepurupalem has more than 600 pupil strength this academic year. The school has basic infrastructure like toilets, compound walls etc and is providing sanitary napkins for the girls at Rs 5 per two pieces after allotting a room for their dress change.

The ITC Rakshana organization has provided a sanitary napkins incinerator to the school as part of their services. Apart from all these, the management wanted to provide more facilities to the students and thought over a sick room.

Following the suggestions from the teachers, the headmaster Molabanti Venkateswarlu took initiation and met the management of the ICON Hospital in Chirala and convinced the doctors to operate a sick room in the school.

The school has allotted a room for the purpose and provided two beds, first aid kits and other medicines in it. The school announced that the girls or teachers could use the room when they are sick due to any reason.

The district education officer, VS Subba Rao appreciated the initiative by the headmaster to provide the sick room in the school. He said that the provision of the sickroom is receiving applause from various sections of society. He announced that they will try to provide a sick room facility with all schools in the Prakasam district, depending on the availability of infrastructure and requirement.
