Tirupati: SOS Children's village-Tirupati celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child on Friday. The programme was organised with the aim of spreading awareness on gender equality in areas of education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care and protection from discrimination, forced child marriages and increasing child abuses in the community.
The programme was organised at Akruthi government school. Headmaster Lakshmaiah had given message of International Day of the Girl Child. Bino James assistant director SOS children's Village–Tirupati had flagged off the rally in which more than 200 children participated.
