Visakhapatnam: Thousands of Muslims offered special prayers organised at various mosques, select open grounds and public places in the district to mark Bakrid on Monday.

Tourism Minister M Srinivasa Rao joined the prayers held at Tagarapuvalasa and wished Muslim brothers 'Eid Mubarak.' Rao said that he would consider all steps to resolve their problems which were pending since long.

Later, he shared sweets with the community after greeting and interacting with them.

Several city committee leaders and activists headed to the venue to offer prayers on the occasion.

TDP urban president S A Rahman and Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) Chairman Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao, among others took part in the celebrations that included offering prayers.

Livestock market witnessed brisk business as sheep and goats were in great demand as the Muslim brethren took part in the sacrifice ritual as part of the Bakrid celebrations.

The tradition of feeding the poor was followed by the Muslims on the occasion.

Hugging one another and exchanging greetings 'Eid Mubarak' hundreds of Muslims were seen celebrating Bakrid at One Town Area and Maccca Masjid, Jagadamba Centre, among other neighbourhoods.
