Dornala (Markapur District): Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Tribes Commission member P Venkatappa visited Marripalem Chenchu Gudem in Dornala mandal on Wednesday. He distributed cheques worth Rs 15 lakh to self-help groups in the hamlet.
Venkatappa toured the hamlet with ITDA officials and forest staff. Villagers told him that the road from Chintala to Marripalem is in a very bad condition and must be repaired. They also asked for a BSNL tower and a solution to the drinking water problem. They said forest officials are not giving permission to lay a road and electricity lines in the village. They complained that the officials are troubling them.
Venkatappa said the government gives special funds to ITDAs for drinking water, CC roads and electricity in tribal areas. He asked ITDA Project Officer PVS Naidu to use these funds to develop every Thanda and Gudem.
He told the Tahsildar, MPDO, RWS, Panchayat Raj and ITDA officials to work with the villagers to develop every hamlet. Tribal Advisory Council member Venkatapathi, officials of various departments and tribal leaders also took part.
