Tirupati: TTD on Wednesday reverted to a 7-day stay for the staff working in Tirumala. In the wake of soaring Covid-19 cases in Tirupati and surrounding areas as well as in the districts and other states, the TTD management felt it better to opt 7-day stay for the Tirumala staff except those working in administrative side and officials.

Accordingly the staff including vigilance and security, sanitation and health, temple, Vaikuntam, reception have to stay for a week on the hills. They have been provided accommodation for their stay after their 8-hour duty daily. TTD introduced this system for the staff during the lockdown when there was no darshan in Tirumala temple to avoid the staff travelling daily as RTC also suspended its services due to nationwide lockdown. After darshans resumed with easing of curbs, TTD resumed the regular system allowing those working in Tirumala return home in Tirupati after their duties. But now as part of enhancing the safety measures against Covid-19, the TTD decided to revert to 7-day stay for the staff working in Tirumala.Meanwhile TTD staff working in Tirumala, who are now travelling with pilgrims in RTC buses sought separate buses.
